Hair Share — Bamboo Soft Rollers
The gorgeous Melissa from Sarcomical just sent me some great info on Conair’s Bamboo Soft Rollers.
I have two of these boxes of 12 soft rollers, but even with my long and rather thick and straight hair, I ended up using only 10 of one box. The thing is, you want to do keep the sections somewhat thick to eliminate the chance of ending up looking like Curly Sue.
I had freshly dried my hair a few hours prior to putting these in at bedtime, then slept on them (no discomfort, especially because you want to stop rolling a few inches from the crown of your head, so they aren’t poking your brain all night and look less like a giant perm). I didn’t use any styling product, because I knew my hair would take curl quickly having been recently washed.
I woke up, then brushed, brushed, brushed with a bristle brush to loosen them a bit and coax the waves where I wanted them to go, and the curls stayed, slightly deflating slowly, for THREE DAYS. By the third day, they looked like big waves, perfect for a sexy ponytail. I’ll definitely use these again, even though I read that eventually the metal might poke through the fabric ends a bit. These are definitely a step up from the tiny white ones I used many years ago.
Thanks, Melissa! Love this look!

Lovely!
I WANT THOSE! And I have super thick hair too which helps knowing what result I will get.
HOLLA!
First of all, Melissa is adorable.
Secondly, this post officially made me want to grow my hair out long just so I can try this. It looks awesome!
I have been looking for easy curlers – I am going to have to try these!
These look awesome. I used something similar (but plastic) when I was younger. This may be the perfect thing to get me to actually style my hair!
So pretty!
Perfect! Been looking for an easy way to get curls!
She didn’t wash her hair for THREE DAYS? Wha?!
Puuuuurty!
Okay, hair experts (hairperts?), here is what I want to know: If I use something like this in my VERY CURLY hair, will I wake up with softened waves instead of my usual ringlets? INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW.
Oh mi god. I want! This is a good solution to my (like everyone else) “I’m bored with long hair” rut.
Oooh, now I desperately want to try these out – they look perfect! Are they only available online – no brick and mortar stores carry them?
Thanks for the tip! Lovely!
Love this, wondering what would happened if I did this to my curly locks?
Awesome! I love those curls! I will have to check ‘em out. I have been wanting curls like that without having to do the whole Chi-curl thing. Not fun.
thanks for asking me to participate in your fabulous space here, my dear Sarah.
…and please know that even when i go 3 (or FOUR!) days without washing my hair, i am still bathing. so, there’s that at least.
LOVE! my thick asian hair unfortunately just doesn’t ever want to curl. but…le sigh. these look so fun if my hair did acutally curl.
Ha! I finally learned to love my natural curls. No more straightening iron and I’m glad I can achieve this look without a curling iron either. So much for hair damage.
Loved your blog. Readers might also be interested in another article I found, about beauty and dry eyes. It can be found at this website:

This looks awesome! I’ve never had good luck with rollers in the past (or my hair maintaining a curl) so maybe these would do the trick!
Oh Lord, is she right about Curly Sue! I read this review and immediately a set of these for myself and one for my sis, who’s a hair stylist. She was blessed with short, wavy, thick hair and I ended up with long, fine, thick hair that hates curl…
We both used them last night and this morning, we both look like a frizzy version of Shirley Temple! I’m gonna try them again tonight using just four rollers so maybe I’ll end up with bigger curls but as it stands now, I feel like I wish I could have in 8th grade, with a super tight spiral perm
