A Confession

Posted on July 14, 2008 · Filed Under stuff

I have a secret. I’ve been purposely keeping something from you all, and I must come clean.

You see, I have an unbelievable hair stylist that many of you have asked about over the past year. And although I try to address most of your questions, those emails and inquiries seem to disappear before I can answer them.

Okay, okay. I delete those emails and pretend I never saw them in the first place. Why? Well, in a nutshell, if I tell all of YOU about my superhuman stylist, WHEN IN THE HELL WILL I BE ABLE TO GET IN FOR AN APPOINTMENT?! RIDDLE ME THAT, PEOPLE.

Ahem.

However, I can’t deny you the hair love any longer. If you live in Southern California, you need to spend some time in Tera’s chair. I promise that she does NOT disappoint.

In return, why don’t you share some love with the Hair Thursday readers? Do you know of a great stylist? Tell us here!

Be sure to tell us about your stylist by filling out this form, not in the comments. Thanks!

I need recommendations in Seattle- preferably someone who knows how to work with thick, wavy hair cut short and uses good color that keeps the red in longer.

I can attest to Tera’s greatness – I loved what she did with my hair!

However, I had to go with someone closer to home and something my sad broke ass could afford on a more regular basis, and found Audrey at Underground Salon in Long Beach and I love, love, love them. I’ll recommend her to anyone!

Sizzle – I’m a non-natural redhead and LOVE the girls at Derby Salon in Seattle. Megan does an amazing job with my color! I have fine, straight hair so I can’t speak to the thick, wavy haircut part, but for color, Megan can’t be beat! 206.526.1470

I’d love recommendations for someone in the Las Vegas-area. Preferably someone who can work with thick, wavy, unruly hair without telling me that I have to straighten and might be open to chopping it all off.

I would love a great stylist in the suburban Washington DC area. I don’t color my super thick dark blonde hair, it’s slightly wavy (enough to be annoying) and I am currently growing out a “bad idea” bob from January. I’ve had 3 or 4 horrible haircuts (to the point where I am almost afraid to go back in) in the recent past.

I would love to find a stylist in the Lawrence, KS area. My miracle worker stylist moved to NYC and now I am left with bad hair. I have thickish, wavyish hair. I am sick of wearing a ponytail, someone help!

If you’re in Ventura County or the San Fernando Valley, Kenny Lavis at Guy Matthew Salon is amazing for men’s hair. The man wears a tool belt with 40 different scissors!! He does women’s hair too but men is where his genius lies.

I’m open to Canadian suggestions as well. I’d love to find someone on the east coast who can work with my thick/sometimes curly/always difficult hair.

Just found your blog. I Love it!!! I have been in a bad situation with my stylist . I found her on the rebound, ( My true stylist had fallen ill) so I’m NOT totally in love with her, but her hours worked for me ,her salon’s good one and close. But I’ve never been happy, she always wanted to cut to much, make my hair to dark, she was more goth for me, I want to be more California Beach girl with style. Anyway……thanks for the letting the secret out on Tera , she’s not to far and I’m going to call as soon as they open.( I’m guessing Tuseday ….ha.)

This comment is in response to Sizzle’s request for a good hairstylist in Seattle. I live in Seattle and go to Kelli at the MargiDavid salon in Eastlake. I LOVE her! She’s talented, she listens, suggests appropriate styles and charges a reasonable fee. They use Bumble & Bumble products which I love but she doesn’t do the ‘hard sell’ on the products when she’s done. I’ve gone in with only a vague idea of what I want and come away with a fab new style. I have thick wavy hair and she works with it effortlessly! I currently have the shortest cut ever in my life and yet it is exactly what I wanted, complete with great highlights! I used to work right across the street from the salon which is why I tried it out first (looked a little snobby and expensive – neither of which is true). I now work in SODO and getting there is not so convenient – but I make the effort. The Salon and especially Kelli, is worth it!! Give her a try!!

I’m looking for a stylist recommendation in the Norman, OK area. I’m not displeased with my current hairstylist, although is seems her only hairstyles include a flat iron, and I truly don’t have time for that on a daily basis (and my hair can’t handle that much heat-styling!).

Go head and chime in...
